Become a Newton at Home Volunteer

Volunteerism is a cornerstone of the Village model, drawing upon people in our community to support each other. Volunteers provide services, resources, and community activities that make a positive difference in the lives of members.

Newton at Home offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities. Whether you have a lot of time to give or only a little, we have a place for you! We believe there is a way for almost everyone to get involved as a productive volunteer.

Drivers: Take NaH members to and from medical appointments, activities, errands, and other destinations throughout the area.
Note: Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles and their own insurance coverage.

  1. A copy of the current driver’s license and auto insurance information must be on file with Newton at Home.
  2. If parking fees are incurred while on a volunteer driving assignment, these fees are to be paid by the Village member (the passenger).

Practical Services: Help NaH members get things done in the house and around town. Do minor home repairs. Install or take down storm windows or air conditioners. Organize and clear clutter. Read to members with impaired vision. Become a friendly visitor or a walking buddy. Perform minor gardening tasks, and more.

Health and Wellness: Help organize activities, present seminars and forums, provide support after hospitalization, make daily telephone check-in calls, and more.

Technology and Media Help: NaH members with routine technology requests, such as troubleshooting issues on both Mac and PCs, providing tutorials on how to use devices and software, setting up AV equipment, fixing printers, etc.

Office Support: NaH welcomes office volunteers to help with the daily running of our organization. Assist with general office duties such as answering phones, performing data entry, sending mailings, working on member and volunteer outreach, and helping with special projects and events.

Writing and Photography: Help write and edit NaH newsletters, articles, marketing materials, and event invitations. Our volunteers take photographs for our web pages, newsletter, brochures, etc.

Committees: NaH seeks dedicated and reliable individuals to serve on a range of committees who are enthusiastic about our organization’s mission and willing to put in the time, energy, and brain power to meet and exceed our goals.

Why Volunteer?

  • You stay active – physically, mentally and socially
  • You make a real difference in improving the quality of others' lives by providing a member the peace of mind that a neighbor is there for them
  • You get to know more neighbors and make new friends
  • You 'pay it forward', knowing that some day you may also need support
  • You put your skills and expertise to good use
  • You have positive and rewarding experiences, bringing more fun and fulfillment to your life

Who Can Volunteer?

  • Anyone! We are enthusiastic about having volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. You can volunteer as an individual, as a family, or as a group, on your own time and in your own neighborhood.

How Does it Work?
  • Volunteering at NaH is very flexible. Volunteers can choose what services they want to offer, and when and where they want to offer them without being locked into a fixed schedule. When a request comes in for a service, we contact those who volunteered to perform that particular type of service. If you can do it, you respond yes.
  • Your schedule is in your hands. There is no expectation that you will volunteer at a particular time or interval. Snowbirds and those who are away for the summer are welcome!
