Support Newton's Seniors: Your Generosity Builds Our Community

At Newton at Home (NaH), we believe that every older adult in our community deserves to live with dignity, connection, and support. By giving to Newton at Home, you become a vital partner in making this vision a reality for so many of your Newton neighbors.

Your compassionate donation empowers us to sustain and grow the essential services, vibrant programs, and crucial initiatives that help our members thrive independently in the homes and neighborhoods they love. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference.

Newton at Home offers two primary avenues for your generosity, ensuring your gift aligns with your philanthropic goals:

  • General Purpose Fund: Powering Our Essential Services Donations to our General Purpose Fund are the lifeblood of our organization. These contributions support all aspects of Newton at Home’s operational needs, from coordinating volunteer services and organizing engaging programs to managing daily administrative tasks. This fund allows us to allocate resources where they are most critically needed, ensuring the resilience and responsiveness of our support network.
  •
  • Reduced-Fee Membership Fund: Ensuring Access for All We are committed to making Newton at Home accessible to all eligible older adults, regardless of their financial circumstances. Contributions to our Reduced-Fee Membership Fund directly subsidize memberships for low- and moderate-income seniors, welcoming them into our supportive community and providing access to all our valuable resources.

Newton at Home is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Your contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.

We offer a variety of convenient ways for you to support Newton at Home and the seniors we serve:

  • 1. Donate Online Securely The quickest and easiest way to make your gift is through our secure online portal. You can use your credit card to donate up to $2000.
  •
  • 2. Donate by Mail If you prefer to donate by check, please make it payable to "Newton at Home" and mail it to: Newton at Home 206 Waltham Street West Newton, MA 02465

We are grateful for your support!

  • 3. Double (or Triple!)Your Impact with a Matching Gift Many employers offer matching gift programs that can significantly increase the value of your donation. Please check with your company’s human resources department to see if they participate. Most programs match contributions dollar-for-dollar, and some will even double or triple your gift to Newton at Home! This is a simple way to maximize your generosity.
  •
  • 4. Donate Appreciated Stock Gifting appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, or mutual funds) can be a tax-efficient way to support NaH. You may be able to avoid capital gains tax while receiving a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock. To learn more about donating stock, please email our treasurer at [email protected]. Kindly include your name and a contact number, and our treasurer will promptly get in touch with instructions for the transfer.
  •
    • Important Note for IRA Owners: If you are older than 70 1/2, consult your tax advisor about the potential advantages of making a donation of cash or stock directly from your IRA account to Newton at Home.
  •
  • 5. Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from Your IRA If you are age 70 1/2 or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Newton at Home. This is known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
  •
    • Benefits: A QCD can help satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year (though the SECURE Act has adjusted RMD ages, the QCD age remains 70 1/2). The amount you donate via a QCD is excluded from your gross income for federal tax purposes, offering a significant tax benefit regardless of whether you itemize deductions.
    •
    • How to Give: Simply direct your IRA administrator to make a distribution directly to Newton at Home by December 31st to count for the current tax year.
    •
    • We strongly recommend consulting with your financial or tax advisor to understand how a QCD can best fit into your financial planning.
  •
  • 6. Give a Gift to Honor, Remember, or Celebrate A donation to Newton at Home is a deeply meaningful way to:
  •
    • Honor a friend, family member, caregiver, or mentor.
    •
    • Remember a loved one and create a lasting tribute.
    •
    • Celebrate a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, retirement, or milestone.

Once your gift is received, Newton at Home will promptly acknowledge it by sending a personalized card to the honoree or designated family member, notifying them of your thoughtful gesture (the amount of your gift will remain confidential).

  •
