Over more than three decades on the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy shaped the law on some of the most consequential and debated issues of our time, including marriage equality, free speech, the death penalty for minors, and reproductive rights. Often the pivotal vote in closely divided cases, he became known as “The Decider,” while consistently grounding his decisions in constitutional principles of justice and liberty.
