Join Newton at Home in celebrating the launch of Women of Courage and Conviction: The Untold Stories of Five Extraordinary Newton at Home Members, written by longtime member & volunteer Dorothy Anger.
In this inspiring new book, Dorothy brings to light the remarkable life stories of five women in our city whom she met through Newton at Home: Louise Bruyn, Maria Brisk, Shlomit Mintz, Hanni Myers, and Sallie Craig Huber.
These women’s experiences span continents and eras: one walked from Newton to Washington, D.C. in a “Walk for Peace”; another grew up in Argentina during the Perón regime; two survived their childhoods as Jews under the Nazi regime; and the fifth became a global leader in women’s reproductive health and health systems management.
Come hear about the journeys of these courageous women, celebrate their resilience and achievements, and honor the power of storytelling to connect us across generations.
This is a panel discussion with the author and four of the five women featured in the book. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.*
*If you are unable to attend this event but would like to purchase a copy of the book, please contact the Newton at Home office ([email protected] or 617-795-2560)
All proceeds from this event will support Newton at Home's mission of providing vital services and enriching social programs for older adults in our community.
