Between the Big Band years of the 1930s and ‘40s and the rise of Rock ‘n Roll came a “Golden Age” of recorded music from legendary vocalists like Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, and Nat “King” Cole.
In this presentation, Frank King will spotlight the extraordinary career of Dinah Shore, tracing her rise from a small Tennessee town—where she was part of the only Jewish family—to becoming one of America’s most beloved singers. His lecture will feature Shore’s string of hit songs, highlights from her personal life, her resilience in overcoming childhood polio, her marriages, and her famous romance with Burt Reynolds.
