Most people know the story of the Boston Tea Party, but fewer realize that colonists turned to drinking chocolate instead of tea due to British taxation. Paul Revere even made special drinking chocolate pots, now on display at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Boston and Massachusetts played key roles in chocolate history, including hosting North America's first chocolate factory. The area also pioneered roadside candy shops and early white chocolate production. Fannie Farmer, cookbook author and inspiration for the candy company, who is buried in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, further cemented Boston’s sweet legacy.
Join us to hear Cocoa Beantown expert, Victoria, share all of this tasty chocolate information as well as a real tasting of chocolates from around the world. Cost is $5 per person, payable to Newton at Home
