About this event
Did you know that Auburndale was almost called Pigeonville? This tour takes you past sites of importance from the 18th through the early 20th century, telling you colorful stories about the people and institutions that shaped the village we know today. You’ll see one of Newton’s oldest homes, hear about student life at Lasell Female Seminary, and see where the families of missionaries once lived in between assignments abroad.
The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours and will cover just under 1.5 miles. We will walk on paved terrain that features some inclines and declines. We will meet outside the Auburndale Community Library located at 375 Auburn St. There is parking available on nearby streets.Once you arrive look for a Historic Newton staff member holding a sign. Allison Pagliaro of Historic Newton will be our guide.
Weather permitting. We ask that all participants remain together as a group. A reminder to have with you water, sunscreen, weather-appropriate layers, and good walking shoes.
Please email info@newtonathome.org or call the office at 617-795-2560 to register. All members and volunteers are welcome to attend. Ride requests accepted through August 29. Free. Fee for guide paid by Newton at Home.
